What is the Master’s Program “ICT for Development and Social Good”?
Initiated in 2018, the Master programme is a comprehensive first-level academic programme designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to harness the power of technology for social good. It covers a range of cross-sectorial topics such as social innovation and design, research methods for international cooperation, data analysis, emerging technologies like AI, blockchain and more, to address global development issues.
Who should apply for this program?
The program is ideal for individuals with a passion for technology and development studies, and a strong interest in making a positive impact on society. Graduates from various backgrounds such as social sciences, computer science, engineering, communications and media, and related fields are encouraged to apply. Tailored to respond to variety of backgrounds, the Master’s ‘tribrid model’ encompassing information systems, computer sciences and development studies, uniquely equips students with a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between technology and development.

Graduates of the Master can pursue a wide range of career paths, including roles in international development organizations, NGOs, government agencies, research institutions, technology companies, and consulting firms. Is this program offered in English?
Yes, the Master’s program is conducted entirely in English to cater to an international audience and ensure effective communication and collaboration among students from diverse backgrounds.
What is the program duration?
The typical duration of the Master’s program is 9 months, comprising 3 months of Internship. The program is structured to provide a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on experience. The academic year 2023-2024 will start on 15 January 2024.
How are lectures organized and delivered?
All lectures are held online, live, in an interactive format, under guidance of the lecturer. They are usually held twice a week, on Monday and Thursday, with some exceptions, between 17:30-19:30 (Turin time). All lectures are also recorded and made available for students immediately after the lecture via our e-learning platform of the university. Crash Courses, on the other hand, are residential one-week intensive courses focused on one subject and are held at the campus of the University of Turin. (Note: since the Covid19 pandemic Crash Courses have been subject of change due to variety of pandemic-related reasons. So, it may happen that they are held online or in hybrid format.)
What is the difference between Online-only Master Model and Full Master Model?
To accommodate various needs of students, we provide the programme in two models: Online-only Master Model and Full Master Model.
Students of Online-only Master Model are not required to complete exams, attend residential crash courses, and accomplish the Internship. However, they are required to attend all online lectures, submit course’s assignments, and work on the Final Project.
Whereas, students of Full Master Model are required to accomplish all above mentioned academic elements of the program: exams, internship, crash courses.
What are the fees for Online-only Master Model and Full Master Model?
We provide one of the most economically-accessible Master programme in the European landscape.
The Tuition Fee for the Full Master Model is €3.500.
The Tuition Fee for the Online-Only Master Model is €1.500.
Accepted students are required to pay the first instalment (€2.000) of the fee between 20 November until 04 December 2023.
The second instalment (€1.500) should be paid by 01 April 2024.

Can I apply for both the scholarship and fee enrolment?
Yes, candidates are allowed to apply for both at the same time. You need, however, to submit twice the application form through our website’s dedicated pages.
Can I apply if I don’t have a technical background?
Yes, the programme is designed to accommodate students from diverse academic backgrounds. While a technical background is an added value, the curriculum includes foundational courses to ensure that students with varying levels of technical expertise can succeed.
Is there an internship or practical component in the program?
Yes, the program often includes opportunities for internships, fieldwork, or practical projects in collaboration with partner organizations. These experiences provide valuable real-world exposure and hands-on learning in ICT4D implementation. The programme requests students to accomplish 450 hours of Internship, either in their own employment place or with one of our partner organizations, in a period of minimum 3 months and maximum 6 months.
